Istra druga najbolj priljubljena svetovna regija po izboru »Lonely Planet-a«
Eden vodilnih svetovnih vodičev za potovanja »Lonely Planet« je v izboru za deset najbolj priljubljenih svetovnih regij v naslednjem letu na drugo mesto uvrstil Istro. Pred največjim hrvaškim polotokom se je v izboru «Lonely Planet's top 10 regions 2011» uvrstil samo egipčanski Sinaj, medtem ko so preostalih osem mest zasedli: Otok Marquesas (Južni Pacifik), Kapadokija (Turčija), Westfjords (Islandija), Šetlandsko otočje (Škotska), Veliki koralni greben (Avstralija), Zahodna obala ZDA, Patagonija (Čile) in otoki Gili (Indonezija).

Predstavnik »Lonely Planeta« Tom Hall poudarja, da letošnji izbor najboljše destinacije pravzaprav označuje strast za odkrivanje nekaj popolnoma novega, zato so bili izbrani malo ali manj znani obenem pa čudoviti predeli sveta.

Rezultati izbora so posledica številnih anket in idej, ki jih je eden najbolj znanih svetovnih vodičev za potovanja prejemal od svojih dopisnikov, avtorjev, združenja popotnikov, bloger in tweeter uporabnikov. Njihovi predlogi so obdelani na penal-diskusiji turističnih strokovnjakov, kjer so bili upoštevani različni kriteriji kot so posebnosti, navdušenje, razmerje cena-kakovost in posebni faktor X, ki ga ima lahko posamezna destinacija.

Istra je v članku prikazana skozi svojo bogato kulturno dediščino, gastronomijo, idealno podnebje tekom celega leta, skozi festivale in dogodke ter številne posebnosti kot so Brioni, iskanje tartufov v Buzetu, Motovun ter pokušino oljčnega olja in vina v avtohtonih istrskih kleteh.

Avtorica članka Anja Mutić – turistična novinarka in svetovna popotnica, je pred kratkim v svetovnem specializiranem časopisu «Wine Enthusiast Magazine» objavila še en članek o Istri na temo najbolj znanih svetovnih nahajališč tartufov.
