Dubrovnik – »Soko kula« nova turistična atrakcija
Prihodnjo turistično sezono bo širše dubrovniško področje pričakalo s še eno atraktivno lokaliteto, in sicer »Soko kulo« v mestu Dunave. Obnovo stolpa že vrsto let vodi Društvo prijateljev dubrovniške starine, trenutno pa se izvajajo dela na dinamični rekonstrukciji njegovih sten. Društvo je »Soko kulo« pred petdesetimi leti odkupilo od cerkve in postalo njen lastnik. Prva pisna sled datira iz leta 1391, čeprav je stolp obstajal že prej. Soko-grad je bil zgrajen na mestu nekdanje ilirske graščine, nato pa rimske, bizantinske in bosanske utrdbe. V obdobju med letoma 1420 in 1482 je bila ponovno zgrajena s strani Dobrovčanov, ki so je uporabljali do leta 1672. Glede na njeno strateško pomembnost je Dubrovniška Republika v njo vseskozi vlagala, tako da je ta monumentalni fortifikacijski sistem razpolagal s cisterno, stavbo za strelivo, skladiščem vina in hrane. V njej se je nahajalo tudi stanovanje kaštelanov, stražarnice, stavba za vojake in objekt za namestitev žensk in otrokov iz bližnjih vasic v primeru vojne nevarnosti in času pustošenja roparskih hord, ki so občasno napadale področje Konavel.

Po dokončanju del, bo »Soko kula« obiskovalcem ponudila različno vsebino. V spominski sobi si bodo obiskovalci lahko ogledali konzervirane ostanke keramike, stekla in železa, ki so bili najdeni v okolici stolpa, vredni napis v obli glagolici iz 11. stoletja in vrsto drugih zanimivih eksponatov. Poleg spominske sobe bo stolp ponujal tudi trgovino s spominki, obiskovalci pa bodo lahko uživali tudi v urejenem sprehajališču in razgledni točki s katere se razteza edinstven pogled na konaveljske kraje. Obiskovalci »Soko kule« se bodo lahko spoznali tudi z bogato preteklostjo in številnimi zanimivimi zgodbami.
