Orahovica –La perle touristique de Slavonie
Orahovica est une ville de tourisme et de vin. Elle se situe au fond de Krndija et Papuk. On l'appelle «la Suisse Slavone» pour sa nature vierge, ses ruisseaux de montagne et son air pur. Sa position géographique, son patrimoine culturel et historique et sa nature préservée font penser qu'Orahovica a été crée pour le tourisme. Les habitants de cette ville l’ont très vite compris, en 1905 ils ont fondé une Société pour l'embellisement d’Orahovica.

La ville contient une richesse importante de monuments. L'église baroque Našašća svetog Križa de 1756 domine la ville. Le monastère avec l'église de Saint Nicolas, un exemple extraordinaire de l'architecture réligieuse du 16 ème siècle, se trouve à quelques kilomètres au sud de la ville, caché entre les collines. Dans le village voisin de Crkvari on trouve l'unique église de Saint Laurent du 13 ème siècle.

Le plus célèbre monument culturel et historique de la région d’Orahovica est la Ružica grad, l'un des nobles forts médievaux le plus conservé en Croatie. Il a été construit fin du 14ème siècle et début du 15ème siècle à environ 5 kms au sud-est de la ville. Il s'agit d'un site du patrimoine mondial d'une valeur particulièrement réligieuse, urbaine auquel se lient de nombreuses légendes. Au fond de la fortification Ružica grad, à 1,5 km du centre d’Orahovica on y trouve un lac artificiel d’une superficie de 1,7 hectare. Entouré de bois de feuilles caduques, il est construit en 1961 avec la construction de digue artificielle. Pendant les jours chauds d'été c'est un lieu idéal pour des rafraîchissements.
