Cuenta la historia sobre los soldados croatas y que llevaban pañuelos rojos atados "a la croat" (a la manera croata) en Francia. Explica como de ahí viene la raíz para la palabra corbata en muchos idiomas.

La corbata se considera un invento croata. Su uso se extendió por Europa en el siglo XVII gracias a los soldados croatas, y se convirtió en un destacado complemento de moda. Entre los primeros han aceptado su uso los franceses, que además incorporaron a su idioma cravate, igual que otros idiomas europeos. El nombre de corbata era al principio nombre para el pañuelo que se ataba alrededor del cuello, distintivo de los soldados croatas y en el año 1667 se organizó un cuerpo especial del ejército llamado "Royal Cravates" llamado así por los croatas.
