El destino turístico favorito del interior de Istria, y la ciudad más pequeña del mundo: Hum, está en pleno proceso de renovación.

Se ha comenzado la reconstrucción y el saneamiento de la muralla sur de Hum.

Hum pertenece al grupo de ciudades medievales de Istria que se desarrollaron como pequeños centros junto al castillo, levantados en posiciones estratégicas para la defensa. Los muros en su parte interior sirven en su mayor parte como paredes de casas. Antes estaban en muy mal estado, puesto que los tejados y construcciones altas estaban en parte o totalmente derruidas, pero hoy día las casas están en su mayoría reconstruidas y sólo queda la reconstrucción de la muralla. El saneamiento de la muralla comenzó hace 10 años en el lado oeste. Después se empezó a trabajar en el lado norte, se reformó el campanario y la muralla este y recientemente comenzaron las obras de saneamiento de la muralla sur. Está prevista la terminación en su totalidad para el año que viene. Después se comenzará con la reforma de las calles.

Hum es una Ciudad monumento, uno de los escasos ejemplos conservados de desarrollo urbano exclusivo dentro de las murallas medievales. A lo largo de un milenio, desde el siglo XI hasta hoy, en Hum no se ha construido nada fuera de las murallas de la ciudad, ya que el pueblo se ha mantenido dentro de la muralla definida en la Edad media.
