La revista Traveler editada por National Geographic ha incluido a Croacia en su lista de los mejores cruceros del año 2011. Se trata de viajes, cruceros realizados en antiguos veleros que según la periodista de Traveler, Margaret Loftus es: "tan -retro, tan-Mediterráneo".

Traveler publica todos los años la lista de los 50 viajes que hay que hacer por lo menos una vez en la vida. Entre miles de viajes se eligen los destinos que permiten a los turistas sumergirse en lejanas culturas y vivir experiencias que les puedan cambiar la vida. La autora de la lista ha destacado que ha buscado viajes de aventuras, viajes para familias y cruceros en pequeños barcos que están diseñados para vivir la experiencia, que son ecológicamente sostenibles y que potencian la creación de lazos culturales.

Croacia se ha encontrado en el listado gracias a los cruceros organizados en antiguos veleros, antiguamente usados como principales suministradores de víveres para los habitantes de las islas del Adriático a lo largo de 1100 km de la costa. Hoy pueden llevar de 20 a 40 turistas y navegan por el mar Adriático a un ritmo muy tranquilo, según la autora. Recomienda también visitar los puertos de las ciudades medievales fortificadas, pueblos pesqueros de tejados naranjas, viñedos y blancas playas o simplemente disfrutar de la vista desde el barco. La autora del artículo destaca una buena relación calidad precio.
