La región de Zadar es la más norteña de la región de Dalmacia, sus puertas dan la bienvenida a todos los que viajan desde el norte del Adriático. Está llena de contrastes, de un rico patrimonio histórico y una preciosa naturaleza. La primera y más intensa experiencia de esta región son los colores, esta armonía especial del color azul intenso del mar hasta cuya superficie bajan pinos y olivares de color verde oscuro. A todo esto hay que añadir la piedra blanca de Dalmacia, que toca la orilla misma, o las pequeñitas piedras que forman la playa y atraen a muchos turistas...

El centro de esta región esta ubicado en la ciudad de Zadar que cuenta con mas de 3000 anos de historia. Ciudad con el mas grande foro romano explorado del litoral oriental del Adriático, cuenta con inolvidables iglesias románicas consagradas a San Donato y a San Crisogono y con Nin en sus cercanías, la mas antigua ciudad real croata y en la que se encuentra la catedral mas pequeña del mundo (la iglesia de Santa Cruz, !con 36 pies de longitud!). El área de la región de Zadar, mejor que cualquier libro, relata la historia de los orígenes de la identidad cultural del pueblo croata.
