Planning for a Stress-Free Trip
In order to make your sailing trip as enjoyable as you can, it is important to stock up on everything you will need during your vacation. Whether it is your favourite drink, art supplies, a treadmill, or children’s toys, once you are at sea, finding what you need may prove difficult, if not impossible. When planning for a trip, it is always a good idea to ask yourself whether your boat is supplied with everything you need and assess your supplies against your expectations.
You should make a list of anything that is missing and give it to the boat’s legal representative. High-end charters usually come with the so-called “preference sheet”. On the other hand, you will want to buy some items fresh at the place you will be visiting, so talking to someone who knows the area well may prove invaluable.
Check for any other items that may prove useful and come fully prepared. Although we advise against overstocking with food, make sure you buy all of the smaller-sized items in advance, such as high-quality condiments and balsamic vinegar. The only issue you may have is bringing it all on board, but once you have settled that, you will not have to think about it again. Try to have everything delivered directly to the boat, or have the items wait for you there before you arrive.
Since holidays generally take place during the warmer months, you would not want to haul a ton of things on board. There are plenty of agencies that specialise in that type of business. Some items you take with you will not last you the entire trip, so you should think about where to restock, much like you would with refuelling. The same goes for fresh fruits and vegetables – most of the good-quality vegetables in Croatia is sold in more populated areas, so to restock on those, you will have to visit towns with large markets.
