The magic of the sunny archipelago

The surroundings of Zadar are an area with an extraordinary 3,000-year-long history and extremely valuable cultural heritage. This area will always offer something new and capture you with its particular atmosphere and rich life. You can get to this part of Dalmatia fast and easy, by land, by sea or by air, even if you travel from abroad. The international airport in Zadar, only nine kilometres from the centre of the city, is connected with major European cities.

Besides Zadar, you should also see Starigrad, Jasenice, Novigrad, Posedarje, Obrovac, Vir, Privlaka, Kukljica, Kali, Preko and Sali, which will show you the culture and tradition of the Croatian people. Visit Nin, the medieval cultural centre of Croatia and the oldest Croatian royal city, where you can enjoy the medicinal mud and long sandy beaches.

You can satisfy your thirst for adventure in the canyons of Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica, the mountain ambience with a multitude of hiking routes, which has become a famous European area for climbing.

There are few places in the world where you can find so much natural and cultural richness in one place. The vicinity of as many as five national parks (Sjeverni Velebit, Paklenica, the Kornati, Krka, Plitvička Lakes) and three nature parks (Velebit, Vransko Lake, Telašćica) will provide you with a multitude of activities completely tailored to your wishes, listing this area at the very top of the Croatian tourist offer. The well-indented shore, islands and untouched nature attract many yachtsmen to the area of Zadar archipelago, which has 24 large islands and as many as three hundred small isles and rocks.

Some forty years ago, Alfred Hitchcock said that the sunset at Zadar was the most beautiful in the world. Many tourists share his opinion, enjoying the embrace of the sea, the setting sun and the sky, next to the sounds of the world famous Sea Organ and the magic of light of the installation Greeting the Sun.
