Picturesque green landscape for an active family holiday

Situated between the cold north and the warm south, the Green Heart of Croatia hides the luxuriant nature, which invites you to an active or relaxing holiday, rich culture returning us into old days and the diverse culinary offer. Visit Karlovac, the city of green vegetation and parks ideal for a family holiday, as well as the old towns of Ozalj, Dubovac and Ribnik. Owing to the vicinity of Zagreb and the airport, this area has excellent connections with the rest of Europe, and the proximity of the Plitvice Lakes, the oldest national park in Croatia, enables you to get to know all the natural beauties of the Green Heart of Croatia.

The green nature welcomes visitors and invites you to explore many attractions. You can start your adventure by the murmur of the rivers and the picturesque villages, criss-crossed with more than 320 kilometres of bike, cross country and mountain bike routes suitable for adventurists. If you are looking for excitement, try out rafting and canoeing on the Korana, the Kupa, the Mrežnica and the Dobra, and if you are not prepared for adrenaline fun, you can also swim in all these rivers.

The cultural heritage of the Green Heart of Croatia is adorned by the rich military and sacral history of this crossroads of important traffic routes. In addition, you should definitely visit the National Shrine of St Joseph, situated above the old city centre of Karlovac.

You can find a place to stay in one of the hotels, apartments, hostels or camps, and you can try traditional specialties in award-winning restaurants. Forest delicacies, such as mushrooms and chestnuts, and tasty river fish and game will appeal to the palate of all gourmets who want to try the local cuisine, and by taking a trip along the wine road, you can taste the excellent wine produced in the area.

Spice up your holiday at the Golden Autumns and the Days of Beer in Karlovac, as well as at the Golden Drop in Ozalj and Weekend in Dubovac. Take part in the traditional grape and corn picking and get to know the life of inhabitants of this recognisable landscape.
