Idyllic nature of the northern Adriatic

One of the largest Croatian islands, Krk, is situated in the sunny and pleasant Kvarner Bay, which has mild Mediterranean climate. As one of the sunniest parts of Europe, the island abounds in olive groves and vineyards, stretching along terraced dry-stone walls and rocky plateaus above the Baška Valley, in Punat and Vrbnik. The underground world hides a richness of shapes, with caves, karst valleys and fissures constantly challenging adventurers to explore their secrets.

If you want to rest and relax you can find your oasis of peace on the island Krk in one of the villas and family houses. Besides the beaches where you can loosen up and sunbathe, many of these villas have swimming pools where you can have fun undisturbed. You can find traditional taverns and restaurants throughout the island, offering a wide selection of Mediterranean and local cuisine, while the lovers of good wine will be particularly delighted by the fine nectar of Vrbnik žlahtina, the indigenous white wine, and Valomet, a unique champagne which is aged at the bottom of the sea.

The island of Krk has been inhabited since prehistoric times, with many cultural monuments witnessing to its long and glorious history. One of the oldest remains from the past is the Baška Tablet in the Church of St Lucia, originating from the 11th century, which tells the tale about the legendary King Zvonimir and the then Benedictine monastery. Later periods also left their mark on the island. If you explore all of its corners, you will find many mosaics, amphorae and jewellery on Krk.

If you find accommodation in Punat you will find yourself near the oldest and the best marina on the island and in the Adriatic, where you can rent a boat and explore the surrounding well-indented shore. True adrenaline lovers will be delighted by the demanding cliffs and the abundance of islets, which represent excellent starting points for diving adventures.
