The islands of sun and pleasure

Located in the centre of Dalmatia, the islands of Hvar and Vis are some of the most beautiful islands in the Adriatic. The pleasant Mediterranean climate and an abundance of sun make them ideal for enjoying many activities and a relaxing holiday throughout the year. Although they are quite distant from the mainland, Hvar and Vis are connected by ferries with all the major ports, which is why they are among the favourite island destinations of numerous tourists.

The area will attract you with its relaxed personality, emphasising enjoyment in life and all that it brings. If you like active holidays, Hvar and Vis await you with numerous caves, where you can explore the mysterious underground world, and a multitude of spectacular underwater localities with the preserved remains of sunken ships and aeroplanes in a relatively small space. Safe ports, which are also near the open sea, offer an extraordinary opportunity for sailing. If you just want to relax on your holiday, set out for an excursion on the wine routes of the islands or simply find a nearby beach and enjoy the sun.

All the major towns on Hvar and Vis offer accommodation. You can choose to spend your holiday in one of the hotels or maybe you would enjoy traditionally furnished apartments and secluded coves. During your journey, be sure to stop at some of the traditional taverns and try some of the homemade dishes of Dalmatian cuisine, which you can enrich with a glass of premium white or red wine, still produced in the numerous vineyards of the area.

As the most popular Dalmatian destinations, Hvar and Vis host various events every day. This is where you can learn how the local people live and find out about island culture. Come to the Lavender Festival, where you can learn more about this medicinal plant, whose enchanting scent veils the islands. You can have fun at the traditional Puhijada, held every year on Hvar, celebrating one of the cutest animals on the island – the dormouse. You can also visit the traditional sailboat festival in Dalmatia Fešta Forske Pulene, the historic regatta Rota Palagruzona and the Days of Carob. The Biševo Night and the natural phenomenon the Blue Cave will provide you with a special experience. Besides these events, a visit to Hvar and Vis can be completed with numerous concerts and performances, which attract large audiences, as they often take place in the towns’ streets.
