23 milion euros invested in Kvarner tourism

27 May 2012

In preparation for the upcoming tourist season, the investments of the largest tourism companies in Kvarner envisage for this year the opening of the Vitality Hotel Punta on the island of Lošinj, the newly refurbished building Lošinj Hotels & Villas of the Jadranka Hotels chain, the complete refurbishment of the hotel Lopar and the raising of the categorization of the Rab tourist company Imperial`s tourist resort San Marino to three stars as well as the investments of the Liburnia Riviera Hotels (LRH) into the Ambassador, Kvarner and Bristol hotels. These three large Kvarner companies will invest 23 million euro (or about 170 million kuna) in total.

The refurbishment of the Vitality Hotel Punta is the continuation of the large renewal cycle of the Lošinj tourism company, which started in 2007 and during which over 80 million euros will be spent for raising the categorization of accommodation facilities from four to five stars. Renovated so far are the Wellness & Conference Hotel Aurora Hotel Bellevue and the family hotel Vespera which has entered the family of KinderHotels - specifically tailored for small guests and their parents. So far, over 35 million euros have been invested, and the third cycle which is underway will see an investment worth 12.5 million euro.

The money will be invested into the renovation of Punta, which would under the name Vitality Hotel Punta, receive its first guests in June. The renewed hotel will bear four stars and will offer accommodation in 219 spacious and modernly equipped rooms, as well as 16 suites decorated in accordance with the unique nature of Lošinj. The hotel facility will be complemented by an outdoor swimming pool with a sundeck and indoor and outdoor fitness facilities. Rab`s Imperial is investing nearly twice as many funds than last year - about 32 million kuna. The main investment this year is the renewal and modernization of the hotel Lopar in the tourist resort San Marino. The hotel, as well as other neighbouring facilities, is being completely refurbished so that the whole village will be categorized with three stars. The hotel is to get brand new facilities in the second stage of the refurbishment and the goal is to tailor it to the needs of families with children. It has a capacity of 300 beds, while the entire holiday village has a total of 1050 beds.
Another major investment of the Imperial is the restoration and modernization of 36 apartments in the tourist resort Suha Punta. The complete restoration also means raising it to a three-plus star category. In addition, ten mobile homes have also been purchased.

Investments into Opatija`s LRH are ongoing and have reached the level of about 35 million kuna. The reconstruction of the facade of Kvarner Hotel and its terrace was recently finished. Also completed is the restoration of the terrace by the pool and the garden restaurant Hortenzija at the Ambassador Hotel. Currently ongoing are preparatory works for the refurbishment of the tenth floor of the hotel, which will be called the Executive Floor, and will feature 20 new rooms and junior suites designed for business people who combine work and relaxation. Villa Ambasador is getting an outside sundeck with a jacuzzi, and two apartments will get private jacuzzis and gardens. Also being refurbished are 25 romantic rooms in Bristol Hotel in Lovran, and the first of the 20 new mobile homes in the auto-campsite Medveja have been set up. The oldest hotel in Opatija, Kvarner, should start this season with a newly constructed terrace.

Croatia's largest tourist company Adria Riviera, which operates as part of the Valamar Group, is to invest a little less than a hundred million kuna in preparations for the summer season and improving of services. There will be a complete renovation of the Iris rooms on the Lanterna peninsula in Poreč, by which the family hotel Valamar Club Tamaris will get 37 large family suites under the new name Casa Palma. Their opening is expected by early July. Another hotel, the Valamar Rubin, will enter the 2012 season with ten new romantic rooms, making a total of 25. Significant funds will be invested into campsites in all three destinations - Poreč, Rabac and Krk, and mosty into the Lanterna in Poreč, which has been getting the ADAC Superplatz award for the exceptional quality of service for two years in a row. With planning and improvement of land categories, the campsite will get another 130 pitches for mobile homes and ten new mobile homes. Kvarner campsites within Valamar - Politin and Ježevac on the island of Krk will renovate the sanitary facilities, horticulture, the beach and promenade and mobile homes will have satellite television. With the new arrangement of pitches in Ježevac, new mobile homes will also be set up.
