Croatia sees unprecedented visitor figures

Croatia's Tourism Minister Veljko Osotjic has stated that Croatia has recorded an unprecedented number of arrivals in 2012. The country had more than 70 million overnight stays and 12.3 million arrivals in 2012. Overnight stays increased by 5.13% and arrivals by 6.4% on 2011.


Jet2 to serve new destination in 2013

Jet2 are expanding their Croatia offering with a new route joining Glasgow and Pula starting June 18 2013. Prices start from £43.38 one way.


British Airways recommends Croatia for 2013

British Airways has named Dubrovnik in their list of the 13 top destinations around the world. With Croatia joining the EU later this year and the country a firm favourite with A-list celebrities, the airline expects to see holiday makers head to Croatia for summer 2013. British Airways also named Hvar, Split and Tisno as popular spots for 2013.


Zadar named one of Europe’s best small ports

National Geographic Traveller has named Zadar as one of Europe’s best small ports with its epic history, baroque architecture, and unique public art installations the Sea Organ and Sun Salutation. With stunning views over the Adriatic, the port of Zadar has become a top tourist attraction.

Lanvin shoes inspired by Croatian cities

Famous French fashion house Lanvin has launched a shoe collection inspired by Croatian cities. The collection features shoes called Zagreb, Rijeka, Dubrovnik and Pag and are said to be inspired by the beauty of Croatian women and the charm of the country’s cities.


CNN International puts Zagreb on the map for winter sports

Following this year’s 2013 VIP Snow Queen Trophy, CNN International has put Zagreb on the list of most important Audi FIS Ski World venues.  The slalom races pulled in some of the highest TV ratings of all Audi FIS Ski World Cup races.


Garden Festival announces line up

Crazy P, Soul Clap and Floating Points have been announced as the first acts set to play The Garden Festival this year. In its eighth year, the festival in Tisno attracts leading electronic artists and fans. The festival runs from 3 – 10 July 2013. A full list of confirmed acts can be found here.

17 January – 13 February 2013 – Rijeka Carnival, Rijeka

Crowds will flock in their thousands for the 30th anniversary of Croatia’s most extravagant and eccentric carnival in Rijeka. Get into the carnival spirit with a packed programme of entertainment ranging from a music concert and theatre carousel to a masked marathon and grand ball.


1– 12 February 2013 – Samobor Carnival, Zagreb

A tradition dating back to 1855, the Samobor Carnival sees people take to the streets with dance and music to welcome new life and chase away evil spirits from the previous year.


2 – 3 February 2013 – The Feast of St. Blasius, Dubrovnik

In February, Dubrovnik will come alive with decorations, festival lights and musical entertainment in honour of St. Blasius, who protects the ancient city and secures freedom for the people. Visitors and locals take to the marbled streets to enjoy live performances, sporting events, the flight of white doves and a procession led by people dressed in traditional folk costumes.


16 February 2013 – Chocco and Wine Festival, Istria

The Chocco and Wine Festival will head to Brtonigla, Istria for the first time in 2013. The event brings together international and regional chocolatiers who celebrate traditional Istrian products like truffles, wines, olive oils, and cheese combined with the queen of guilty pleasures – chocolate! 


16 February 2013 – Brtonigla Adventure Trek, Istria

While some will be indulging in chocolate and wine, others in Brtonigla, Istria will be taking part in the third Brtonigla Adventure Trek. The trek takes in the river Mirna, woodlands, vineyards, historic medieval towns and the panoramic views from Mount Učka to the Adriatic Sea. The adventure trek caters for all abilities with routes for leisure walkers and experienced athletes.
