Jet 2 announces new Pula route for 2013

Leeds Bradford is the latest UK airport to get direct flights to summer hotspot Pula. The regional airport joins Newcastle and Manchester in servicing the city, as Jet2 responds to strong demand from UK tourists for the region. Flights will operate every Sunday starting from 26 May 2013. Direct flights will be available from £46.99, while package holidays with Jet2Holidays start from £599 per person (including baggage and transfers) on a half board basis.

Marco Polo museum on Korcula Island opens

The museum which is dedicated to the life of legendary explorer Marco Polo opened its doors this month. The museum aims to represent the life and achievements of the famous adventurer, who is believed to have been born on the beautiful island of Korcula. The museum is set to be a huge attraction for visitors to the island, with 20,000 visitors expected in 2013 alone.

Pula Restaurant voted one of Europe’s best

Family owned restaurant Konoba Batelina in Pula has been voted one of the top 101 restaurants in the world by 53 of the world’s finest chefs. Set in a beautiful terraced location the restaurant specializes in creative takes on traditional Istria seafood, and is renowned for its fish stews.

Hammer Time in Hvar

Legendary rapper MC Hammer was clearly blown away by Croatia on a recent trip to the country. MC Hammer was seen enjoying himself in the party atmosphere on the Dalmatian island of Hvar, describing the nightlife on his twitter account as like being back at ‘spring break’. The rapper also had strong praise for Dubrovnik describing it as a ‘hidden jewel’. Other famous visitors include actor Tom Cruise and Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who recently holidayed in the Neretva Valley. 

Hilton to open first Doubletree hotel in Croatia

Doubletree – Hilton’s upmarket range of ‘CARE’ hotels, which aims to build loyalty through convenience and courtesy, is set to open its first hotel on Croatian soil, in Zagreb. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Zagreb’s business district, just 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel boasts 168 luxurious rooms and suites, a 24 hour business centre, and a fitness centre. Prices start from 120 euros per night.

Each year, the Adriatic Boat Show in Šibenik continues to attract an increasing number of sailing fans. The event offers presentations by industry leaders, the opportunity to buy or sell merchandise, networking opportunities and boat and sailing showcases. 1 – 9 October 2012 – Days of Olives

In early October, Punat, on the island of Krk, holds the ‘Days of Olives’, celebrating all the healing benefits of the olive. Visitors have the unique opportunity to take part in an olive harvest and experience a small part of the islanders’ daily routine. Guests will enjoy feasts from chefs from all over Croatia as they compete to prepare the best olive based dish. More information here
