The flavours of Istria on CNN Traveller
The prestige world magazine CNN Traveller has recently introduced Istria to almost one million of its readers from 60 countries. The story of the largest Croatian peninsula in an article entitled “The flavours of Istria” begins on the cover of the printed edition for November, with a picture of Rovinj bathed in the reflections of the autumn sunset.

Rudolf Abraham, the awarded author and photographer, whose love for travelling to far away destinations has taken him as far as Central Asia and Patagonia, visits Croatia several times a year. This year he visited all our national parks. He visited Istria in September where the wonders of the Istrian landscape made a lasting impression on him at first sight. During his travels Abraham discovered a peninsula of ancient beauty of the coastal towns and a picturesque inland with medieval towns on hilltops.

While searching for frescoes in hidden churches, he tasted Istrian delicacies either sitting close to wine cellar fires or in the ambience of Croatia`s top restaurants. He tried smoked ham, cheeses, fuži (type of pasta), gnocchi, fruits of the sea, game, Istrian Malvazija wine and truffles.

After a more than successful truffle ‘hunt’, with the help of specially trained dogs, the unforgettable experience of truffle tasting was followed by a giant ‘fritaja’ (traditional Istrian omelette) on Subotina fiesta in the town of Buzet. The enchanted circle of Istrian flavours was finished off with a drop of the powerful “biska” (traditional Istrian brandy) enriched with traces of honey.

The magazine CNN Traveller was created in 1998 as part of one of the world`s most recognizable brands - CNN International and Time Warner group. It is famous for discovering the authentic and original and its superb content has won over the loyalty and trust of readers, who encouraged by CNN Traveller decide upon discovering new destinations.
