Plitvička Jezera (Plitvice Lakes) – Another Award for this Croatian Pearl
One of the pearls of Croatian nature, Plitvice Lakes, has found itself on the list of the «10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world» according to BudgetTravel, which was recently published in the Travel section by CNN. Plitvice are in the third place, right after Niagara Falls, which separate Canada from the US, and Hanakapi'ai Falls (Kauai, Hawaii).

The Americans praise the beautiful Plitvice with the following words: «If the Grand Canyon was covered in green moss and laced with 16 lakes and thousands of waterfalls along its rocks, it would somehow resemble the National Park Plitvice Lakes which are located in the southwest of Croatia».

The article describes the colour of water in the lakes as intensely turquoise, thanks to the unique combination of minerals and organisms form the area of Dinarids. Also, those who find their way to Plitvice are advised to discover them on their own rather than in a group, as that way they will be able to peacefully enjoy all the beauties of the area and stop, rest and cool down wherever they choose to.

The article advises that the best and simplest way to reach Plitvice is from Zagreb, by a two hour car ride.

It is best to visit Plitvice during sunny and warm weather, from May to September, recommends BugdetTravel, which on its list of the world`s most beautiful waterfalls also included Iguazu (Argentina), Yosemite (California), Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe and Zambia), Sutherland (New Zealand), Gullfoss (Island), Angel Falls (Venezuela), and the waterfall Langfoss in Norway.

Plitvice Lakes were listed on the UNESCO list of world heritage in 1979 as a world pearl of priceless value, among the first in the world. Their specific beauty is a sanctuary for nature lovers and an inspiration to artists, while their uniqueness and rich nature are an occupation for scientists. Today`s offer enables visitors to choose a specific tour programme which will enable them to get to know Plitvice Lakes through activities such as walking, riding in an electronic boat or a panoramic train, photography, paddling, hiking and skiing. Accomodation can be found in the hotels Jezero, Plitvice, Bellevue, Grabovac and campsite Korana.
