Brazilians in Croatia

Brazil has often been mentioned in the dressing room of 'Vatreni'. And this is not just because of the World Football Cup.
Eduardo de Silva and Sammir are two regular players who are naturalized Brazilians in the Croatian national football team. They are two seemingly completely different players and characters who have two things in common: their country of origin and the fact that - they fell in love with Croatia!
The warm sunshine, crystal clear sea, Croatian aromatic cuisine and great wine seduce faster than local beauty which some claim to be more potent than that available from Brazilian women at the Copacabana. . . . . . .
Eduardo, better known by his nickname Dudu, is from sunny Rio de Janeiro and arrived in Zagreb as a fifteen year old. We're not sure what then he was expecting on his arrival, but he achieved much. In the domestic football league, he holds the record of number of goals scored in the season, he is best player and on top of all of this - he married a Croatian woman. The local supporters accepted this Croatian son-in-law as one of them and he himself says that Croatia is in his heart.
Croatia can easily get into the heart! Compared with Brazil and Rio, Croatia and Zagreb are much smaller, distances are covered much quicker and within a few hours' drive you can enjoy a variety of climates and regions, from Mediterranean to continental.
Sammir, the other 'Vatreni' Brazilian, has quickly learned to enjoy all the beauty that our country has to offer. He came to the Croatian capital at the age of 19 as a great talent, an artist with the ball and for several years he has been the best player in the league. In that period of his life, like his peers, he enjoyed the magic of Hvar, Pag and other popular Adriatic resorts and their rich night life. Anyone who has just once visited these islands and were able to experience all these places had to offer at first hand, can surely understand.
If either of these two Croatian Brazilians plays against Brazil on June 12, we are sure they will give of their best and have an addional motivation to prove themselves to their countrymen.
