Lastovo is a green island dipped into the blue of the Adriatic Sea, studded with a sequence of 45 little silver islands and cliffs in the south of Dalmatia. Miraculously preserved from the effects of industrial civilisation, the entire Lastovo archipelago was declared a nature park.

The island settlement of the same name is positioned amphitheatrically on the slopes of a hill over fertile fields and is famous for its imaginative chimneys, well preserved folk costumes and a peculiar carnival.

The festival of modern music (jazz, blues, rock, punk, soul, hip-hop…) has recently been established as one of the most interesting summer events on the Adriatic.
For those who love and appreciate intact natural surroundings, the crystal clear sea, the lonely bays, the fascinating underwater world, indigenous gastronomic delights - all for the purpose of thoroughly relaxing the body and soul - Lastovo is the ideal choice.
Far out in the open sea is the island of Lastovo, having a surface area of 50 square kilometers, gravelly beaches and several islands on its west and east sides.
This remote group of islands is richly indented, full of greenery and boasts a unique folklore tradition. One of the reasons for such a high degree of preservation and the special atmosphere of peace and tranquillity is their remoteness: it takes more than a four hour journey from the mainland to reach them. The waters of Lastovo allow true lovers of maritime life to indulge themselves fully, and only experienced yachtsmen sail these distant islands. Lastovo is equally attractive when approached from the north towards the small port of Pasadur across the open sea and towards enchanting Hidden Port, or if simply sailed into any of the romantic coves that surround this magical island. Having sailed into the waters of Lastovo, the most experienced sailors will not miss out on the chance to visit one of the island’s lighthouses, particularly Glavat located on a tiny island east of the main island of Lastovo, or Sušac, sitting on a cliff far out into the open sea. Today, these lighthouses have been transformed into tourist facilities for those yearning for utter solitude and primeval romantic charm.

Come springtime, the people of Lastovo visit the surrounding islets, reefs and rocks in search of seagull eggs. An omelette made from seagull eggs is a quite unique dish; it is actually regarded as a fish meal, although no fish is added to it. The bird practically lives on a diet of small fish, which lends a specific flavour to its eggs. The omelette matches perfectly with capers.
