Rovanjska – Hier verbindet sich der Velebit mit dem Meer
«Sveto brdo» - «Der heilige Berg» ist der Name des interRegion alen Projekts, das Velebit mit dem Meer verbinden sollte. Es handelt sich um ein Zentrum des Bergtourismus, das verbunden mit dem Meer in Rovanjska, dem Ort auf der anderen Seite von Velebit, ein neues touristisches Angebot darstellen wird.

Das Projekt beinhaltet den Bau des größten Ski-Zentrums Kroatiens, mit rund dreißig Kilometer Skipisten. Das Ski-Zentrum wird auch von der Meeresseite erreichbar sein, per Seilbahn aus Rovanjska. Dabei werden Rovanjska und die ganze Meeresgegend unter dem Velebit das Genießen des Meeres sowie der historischen und kulturellen Sehenswürdigkeiten bieten. Der Berg wird mit dem Meer durch eine Drei-Etappen Gondel, durch fünf Skilifte und einige Seillifte verbunden werden, außerdem ist in Rovanjska der Bau von einem großen acht Millionen Euro teuren Wasserpark auf 30.000 Quadratmeter Fläche geplant. Motive aus den Filmen über den Indianer-Häuptling Winnetou, die in Rovanjska und auf Velebit gedreht wurden, die wiederum in den letzten Jahren zunehmend von Winnetou-Verehrern besucht werden, würden im Park dominieren. Gelegen am äußersten Ende des Velebit Kanals, ist Rovanjska eine touristische Ortschaft, die ihren Besuchern eine ruhige Ecke mit unberührter Natur bietet. In der Nähe dieses Küstenortes befindet sich die einzigartige speläologische Entdeckung – die Höhle Modrič.
