BIG FEST – Baška International Guitar Festival

From Jurandvor to Stara Riva, Baška, this year, for the sixth time in a row, the echoes of the chords of the living guitar legends will be heard. From 17 to 20 August 2017 Baška will turn into a Guitar Mecca – the Municipality of Baška Tourist Board in cooperation with the Association “Hal“ again brings the most eminent world-famous names of jazz-rock fusion wave into the Baška Valley.
This unique concert experience will be brought by foreign artists from the very top of world guitar scene such as Muriel Anderson, one of the most significant fingerstyle guitarists whose music can also be heard in Woody Allen movies; Duck Baker, the author of numerous books and educational materials; a young Italian virtuoso Emanuele Grafitti; Wawau Adler, the German guitar artist, and also by the leaders of Croatian traditional scene that with their performances always guarantee sound quality and the overall concert experience. They are: Elvis Stanić, the most awarded jazz composer of the middle generation; Damir Kukuruzović, the most prominent Croatian gypsy jazz guitarist; Black Coffee, a jazz group from Split that won Croatian music award ”Porin”, and Bow vs. Plectrum that in their performances combine a bow and a plectrum – a double bass and a tambura in a new way.
Quality guarantee, apart from above mentioned names of world and national guitar scene, is also “Simply the Best“ award from last year that the BIG Festival won in the category Manifestations – themed festivals and events for a duration of several days. Winning this award among 74 nominated manifestations across the country confirmed the quality and the uniqueness of the BIG Festival which significantly enriches and enhances the tourist offer of the island of Krk. The award was given by the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies and the tourism magazine “Way to Croatia“.
