Istra – Dnevi tartufov
Noben gurman na svetu se ne bi smel ponašati s tem nazivom, če v življenju nikoli ni pokušal tartufov – gurmanskega dragulja Istre. Tartufi, gobe, ki rastejo pod zemljo so zaščitni znak Istre, Istrani pa jim svojo hvaležnost izkazujejo tako, da strogo hranijo recepte za njihovo pripravo. Priložnost, da spoznate bogastvo tartufov v vseh možnih gastro kombinacijah, zagotavljajo prav Dnevi tartufov, ki se po vsej Istri obeležujejo tekom jeseni.

Tartuf je nenavadna, gomoljasta izrastlina, ki raste pod zemljo, nenavadne oblike in intenzivne dišave. Ta redka in draga goba, ki raste v plodni istrski zemlji je odlična kulinarična delikatesa. Istrski beli tartuf pa je najbolj cenjen na svetu.

Kulinarično vrednost tartufov so odkrili že stari Rimljani; tekom pet stoletij dolge vladavine Benetk je Motovunski gozd imel naziv Šuma sv. Marka, kjer je bilo nabiranje tartufov dovoljeno le posameznikom. S spremembo vladarja in s prihodom Avstro-Ogrske je tartuf prihajal samo do enega kraja – dunajskega dvora. Vendar se je do danes uspel ohraniti kot vrhunec gastronomije. Ker ne raste nad zemljo se ga lahko najde samo s pomočjo posebej dresiranih psov in prašičev.

Istra ima dve vrste zemlje: intenzivno temnordečo ob obali in sivo zemljo, glinasto v osrednjem delu. Tartuf raste v tej sivi zemlji, epicenter pa se nahaja v vlažnem Motovunskem gozdu preko katerega teče reka Mirna. Tartufna cona se razteza na severovzhodni del mesta Buzet in Lupoglav do jugovzhodnega dela ob reki Raši na Labinščino in južno do Pazinščine.
