Vukovarju nagrada FIJETA
Vukovar je pred kratkim prejel nagrado Zlatna jabuka, nagrado združenja turističnih novinarjev in piscev v turizmu (FIJET), za raziskovanje vučedolske kulture in njene promocije na Hrvaškem in v svetu. Po Dubrovniku leta 1996 in Splitu leta 2002 je Vukovar tretje hrvaško mesto, ki je prejelo to prestižno nagrado. Nagrado je podelil predsednik FIJET-a g. Tijani Hadad, ki je poudaril, da vučedolska kultura ne pripada samo Vukovarju in Hrvaški ampak celemu svetu. FIJET-ova Zlatna jabuka je vključena v posebno skulpturo – znotraj steklene vučedolske golobice, ki stoji na kosu lesa starem 5800 let. Skulptura bo trajno krasila bodoči Vukovarski muzej čigar izgradnja je v teku.

FIJET je ustanovljen leta 1954 v Parizu in danes šteje 35 držav članic. Nagrada Zlatna Jabuka pa je bila ustanovljena leta 1970 in se podeljuje za ohranjanje in pospeševanje zgodovinsko-kulturne dediščine v funkciji razvoja turizma. Za nagrado Zlatna Jabuka sta za leto 2014 nominirani mesti Rovinj in Opatija. Arheološko najdišče Vučedol stoji ob obali Donave pet kilometrov pod Vukovarjem in predstavlja eno najbolj pomembnih najdišč neolitika. V svojem polnem zamahu se je vučedolska kultura raztezala na veliko območje in sicer v širino 700 kilometrov, objemajoč deset današnjih evropskih držav: Češko, Slovaško, Avstrijo, Madžarsko, Romunijo, Slovenijo, Hrvaško, Bosno in Hercegovino, Srbijo, Črno Goro in Albanijo.
