El Mediterraneo, tal como era
Fažana es una pequeña y fascinante localidad istriana. La proximidad de la antigua Pula y el pequeño puerto para barcos que conducen al archipiélago de las Brijuni la convierten en un atractivo destino turístico.

En época antigua los patricios romanos construyeron sus villas y casas de campo en Fažana y sus alrededores y se cultivaban olivos; recibió el antiguo nombre de Vasianum por la entonces fábrica de ánforas. Posteriormente se desarrolló como típica localidad pesquera. De ello dan fe la Cofradía de Pescadores de San Andrés de época napoleónica, después una de las mayores fábricas de elaboración de sardinas de Istria, así como la actual Pequeña Academia Pesquera Sardela.

Las manifestaciones Escuela de Salado de la Sardina, Del Mar a la Mesa, Cosas que los pescadores saben (“Ča ribari znaju”) y Fiesta de la Sardina, presentan, además del olor del pescado fresco, la limpieza de las redes y demás utensilios pesqueros, el espíritu del mar junto a los espigones, el día a día del muelle de Fažana.
