Fužine is a famous place with a very long tourist tradition that dates back to 1874 when the first organized trip in history was recorded and guests arrived by special trains from Sušak, Rijeka and the surrounding coastal villages.
Even before that, on the Karolinska road (1737) on which Fužine developed, there were resting places for caravans, so Fužine is categorized among the oldest tourist resorts of Kvarner, Croatia and even middle Europe.
Fužine is a beautiful town in Gorski kotar, located where the mountains meet the sea. Intact natural surroundings, pleasant accommodation and a rich gastronomic offer are Fužine’s most famous features. Excellent restaurants will offer you deer, trout or mushroom specialties, and forest fruit desserts. Natural attractions include the Vrelo Cave and the Bajer and Lepenica lakes. Summer refreshment can be found fishing or sailing on the lakes. Attractive hiking, cycling and mountaineering routes are marked; you can go horseback riding and ride in carriages or tour the landscape on a tourist train.
