Stancija 1904, Svetvinčenat
Stancija 1904 was declared a European Destination of Excellence for 2012/2013, on the theme of ‘Accessible Tourism’. The criteria of the national contest imply a destination without barriers, transport adapted for all users, activities, events and attractions in which all people can participate plus marketing, a booking system, website and services, meaning information available to everyone, complete accessibility to transport connections, then transport infrastructure, public institutions and accommodation, catering, recreational, cultural, entertainment and other offers in the destination.
The century-year-old estate of Stancija 1904 is located in the heart of Istria, 15 km from the sea. With the holiday home and accompanying apartments, which have been adapted for people with disabilities, there is the capacity of 13 beds. In the typical Istrian tavern meals from all four seasons are prepared. The menus are also written in Braille for people with poor vision. Stancija 1904 is situated in the municipality of Svetvinčenat, a little Renaissance town from the 15th century. During spring, summer and autumn Svetvinčenat is a popular destination with a variety of tourist attractions. The most famous is the Morosini – Grimani castle, the best-preserved castle in Istria, which is an ideal setting for holding cultural-entertainment programmes: a festival of dance and nonverbal theatre, a mediaeval festival, cheese festival, best Istrian goat contest and concerts of world famous artists.
