All the faces of the Neretva: rich historical and natural heritage

In the south of Croatia, where the hills meet the valleys, rivers meet the sea, among the backwaters of the mouth of the Neretva, there are three towns – Metković, Opuzen and Ploče, and the district of Kula Norinska. The pleasant Mediterranean climate will enable you to sail along the river Norin or the bends of the exciting swamps in preserved old Neretva boats. The enjoyment of the wonderful landscapes is completed by the diverse offer of fish and frog specialties plus delicious fruit and vegetables growing in the valley.

The cuisine of the Neretva area is one of the most diverse on the Croatian coast. Many restaurants and taverns have a wide selection of dishes from traditional European cuisine to unique local specialties originating from ancient culinary traditions of the East and the West. Owing to the fertile soil in the Neretva delta, there is a long tradition of winemaking. You can enjoy the excellent red and white wines by visiting one of the family-run wine cellars.

As you are near cultural and historical destinations, such as Dubrovnik and Split, and natural attractions such as the Baćinska Lakes, you will not lack any adventure or relaxation. The seven Baćinska Lakes will thrill you with their beauty, and you can find out more about them by taking a ride along the landscaped bike route which connects them. The traditionally furnished suites in the area offer something for somebody – pleasant and intimate accommodation for couples and families, restaurants and bars for guests who want to have some fun. Find accommodation in one of the small family holiday houses and set out to explore the Neretva delta!

Experience the culture and customs of the Neretva area in a completely new and unique way – take a photo-safari or pick mandarins on large plantations. Enrich your journey by visiting the Natural History Museum in Metković and look at their impressive ornithological collection or visit the pit in Predolac and explore the underground world of the Neretva area.
