'Split Summer' is a festival of performing arts with a long tradition. During the years it has changed and adapted to modern times and today, alongside opera and drama, it stages jazz concerts and exhibitions.

During the summer months Split becomes a big stage as numerous performances are held in open squares like the Peristil, Pjaca, Carrarina Poljana or in the Diocletian cellars, Fortress Gripe, Meštrović gallery and Kaštelet. Apart from organized performances one can often come across spontaneous gatherings on the streets of Split where even the citizens themselves are known to participate in singing, acting or dance.

The focus of Split Summer is on opera productions featuring prominent repertoire selected from the theatres around the world. Famous singers appear before the audience inspired by the ancient ambient of the old town while the streets of Diocletian's Palace form the perfect acoustic background.

Alongside opera, the Split Summer also offers numerous plays, ballets and exhibitions, and in recent years, the organizers have begun to promote certain forms of contemporary art such as jazz concerts, film screenings, and street theater and performance. Split is an ideal choice for those who like to enjoy the sea and great art.

In addition to numerous cultural events from 14 July to 14th August, Split will also offer its visitors plenty of attractions and entertainment.
