Sveto brdo is the name of the inter-regional project which aims to connect Velebit with the sea. This is the centre of mountain tourism which will, connected to the sea in Rovanjska, tender a brand new tourist offer.
The project plan is to build the largest ski centre in Croatia which will have around 30 km of ski slopes. The ski centre will be reachable from the coastal side with a cable cart from Rovanjska.
As well as that, Rovanjska and the whole coastal area at the foot of Velebit will offer a chance to enjoy the sea and the historical and cultural sights.
The mountain and the sea will be connected by a three-stage gondola, five surface chair-lifts and several ordinary tow ski lifts, whilst the construction of a large water-park on 30 000 square meters, worth 8 million euros, is planned in Rovanjska.
Dominating the park would be scenes from the films about the Indian chief Winnetou that were shot in Rovanjska and locations around Velebit which have lately been visited by many Winnetou fans.
Rovanjska, located at the very end of the canal at the foot of Velebit, is a tourist location which offers visitors a quiet corner of untouched nature. Nearby this coastal settlement is the unique cave Modrič.
