Lug – The first religious tourism destination in Baranja
The small village of Lug could soon become the first religious tourism destination in Baranja. The building of a museum with an ethno collection which aims to remind of the history of this village in Baranja and its surroundings has begun at the location of the former school. This is somewhat the cradle of reformation in this area. Also incorporated into this unit will be the church, built in 1475 on the foundations of a former Roman fort.

Proof that Lug, along with Kneževi Vinogradi (the Prince`s Vineyards) are a cradle of reformation and that the development of a new form of tourism in Baranja has its foundations in this, is the fact from the middle of the 16th century, when Mihajlo Starin, a famous reformer, converted many Catholics from this area onto Calvinism.

There are documents which claim that he held Christian sermons for more than seven years under the Turkish rule. The historical park, next to the church, is rich in data about the village`s history and the biggest part is dedicated to characters from religious life, villagers who were important in the reformation movement outside the borders of today`s Croatia. In the village there is also the valuable archaeological site from Roman times.
