New road extensions to Croatian motorways
Croatia is carrying on with the construction of modern roads. Recently, two new motorway sections were opened: a 9.8 km long section in Dalmatia (Račva-Vrgorac) on the motorway A1 Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik and a 50 km long section of the Istrian Y in Istria, from Kanfanar to Umag.

With the opening of the section Račva-Vrgorac, the A1 motorway is now 467 km long. The construction of the next section, to Ploče, is expected to be finished in the next year. Construction work will continue on to Dubrovnik, which is the final destination in the far south of Croatia. The toll on the Račva-Vrgorac section will be four kunas, while from Zagreb to Vrgorac it will be 191 kunas for personal vehicles.

The section on the Istrian Y, from Kanfanar to Umag, was constructed eight months before the set deadline and should be fully completed by the end of 2014. It currently connects Pula and the Slovenian border with an 80km long section. The completion of an 18 km long section from Kanfanar to Rogvići is expected in October this year.
