Lubenice and Zlatni Rat Among the Most Beautiful Beaches in the World
The German daily newspaper Bild has made up a pre season list of the 40 most beautiful beaches in the world which people most love to visit in order to relax. The list includes beaches from the German island Sylt to New Zealand, the Caribbean, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, Ibiza, Sardinia, Mauritius, Florida, Brazil and Thailand. Among them are also two Croatian beaches: the beach at the foot of the town of Lubenice on the Croatian island of Cres, and the well known beach Zlatni Rat in Bol on the central Dalmatian island of Brač.

The advantage of the beach at the foot of Lubenice is the fact that it is hidden away in the untouched nature and exudes the aromas of Mediterranean plants. It is not easily accessible but this did not stop Bild to list it in 15th place.

Lubenice, a medieval stone fort which rises 378 meters high on the top of a cliff, is located on the largest Adriatic island of Cres and represents a jewel of Croatian rural architecture. Right after Lubenice, Bild listed the beach Zlatni Rat, which stretches like a tongue, almost half a kilometre into the blue sea. It grows with the depositing and settling of tiny pebbles around the underwater reef. The tip of Zlatni Rat changes shape, depending on waves and sea currents. Because of its peculiarity and beauty, it is one of the most famous symbols of Croatian tourism as well as the most attractive location for wind surfing.

First place on Bilds list was taken by the Australian Whitehaven Beach, the Spanish Cala Mondrago was in the second place whilst the Egyptian El Gouna was in the third place.
