Krapinske Toplice – A Russian investor restores Toplice Hotel
The Croatian-Russian company Krass hotel is the new owner of the Toplice Hotel – the former hotel Aquae Vivae in Krapinske Toplice. The new management has announced investments into the hotel which currently holds three stars, 135 rooms with 245 beds in total, two apartments, an indoor pool, a sauna, a fitness centre and a facility for medical treatments. The plan is to refurbish the rooms and to redecorate the inside of the hotel and build a water centre. The new management plans to carry on its collaboration with the Special hospital for medical rehabilitation Krapinske Toplice and begin collaborating with Magdalena, a clinic for cardio-vascular diseases at the Medical Faculty of J.J. Strossmayer Univeristy in Osijek as well as the Special hospital for orthopedics and trauma Akromion. The Toplice Hotel which was built by the former state for miners from Zagorje, is located in Krapinske Toplice.

The spa was mentioned as a thermal source back in the Roman times, and today it is a famous thermal health resort with four thermal water sources with temperatures ranging between 39°C to 41°C, rich in calcium, magnesium and hydro-carbonate. The resort is located in a peaceful and beautiful valley surrounded with picturesque hills of Croatian Zagorje and just 46 km from Zagreb. In the mid 19th century, Jakob Badl, the owner at the time, built the first hospital building and so set the foundations of today`s modern health resort.
