The travel section of the Sunday Times has recently published a large report about fifty affordable summer destinations. A photograph of the town of Hvar served as their main illustration and Hvar was, of course, mentioned as one of the top destinations for a pleasant, relaxing and affordable holiday. The Sunday Times praises Croatia, especially its islands among which it singles out Hvar. It recommends private accommodation and points out that Croatia is connected to London by low budget flights. Prices in supermarkets are significantly lower than on the British Isles and the nightlife is, say the British reporters, very colourful and worth experiencing. They recommend numerous boat trips, before all, to the nearby Pakleni Islands, whose beaches have left the reporters speechless. The British reporters were so impressed by the island of Hvar that they put it side by side to Catalonia, Porto and Athens, on the list of affordable summer destinations.
