Following the example of the wine roads that Istria, Hrvatsko Zagorje and some other areas of Croatia are famous for, Gorski Kotar has its own ‘Mountain Fruits Road’ which connects the local indigenous product producers. A network of ten destinations with an attractive offer of local produce for tourists has been created with this project.

The road offers each visitor, wheather on their own or as part of a group, the possibility to get to meet the local producers that breed or produce some of the fruits of the mountain. A visit also means the possibility to taste or buy some of these products.

In Brod on Kupa travelers on the Mountain Fruit Road can enjoy apple products and see the decorated ceramic objects. In Čabar they can find pear and appe products as well as domestic cheeses. In the area of Fužine they can find fruits of the forest products as well as mountain lavender and medicinal herbs. In Lokve they can taste original herbal drinks and in Ravna Gora, where the main information desk is located, they can find domestic liquers.

All the producers present their mountain products on an event held from May until the middle of October, through which visitors can learn more about the medicinal traits of certain fruits. Educational walks are also organized and so is the introduction to every specific destination and family estate that deals in production of mountain fruits.

Every destination of the Mountain Fruit Road has their own exhibition and selling point and most of them plan to introduce different agro-tourism contents with tasting areas and accommodation facilities built in harmony with traditional values of the mountain area.
