Year after year there are more and more guests who join the people of Varaždin in the celebration of the traditional leisurely walking in the streets or, as it is popularly called in Varaždin ‘španciranje’. For ten days this city in the northwest turns into a colorful fun ground of laughter and joy. Numerous performers, musicians, actors and entertainers come out onto the streets, and the entire city operates as a public space for the presentation of Croatian tradition. The stands are crowded with products of traditional crafts, artifacts of artists, traditionally prepared food and beverages and various souvenirs.
This year's 12th Špancirfest, which hosts call the Festival of good emotions, will be held from 20th to 29th of August.
Varaždin is a city of extraordinary artistic and architectural heritage with the largest and best preserved urban baroque complex.
