Umag – Terra Istriana
Terra Istriana is the name of the tourist resort that will be built at the location of the former Umag cement factory. A project worth around 200 million euros will be built on a surface of 118 acres in the south part of Umag. Plans include the building of villas, a hotel with around 80 rooms and a marina with 200 berths.

The unique complex Terra Istriana will differ from others mainly because of the lake and the agricultural zone which will form its major part. Its architecture will be inspired by the Adriatic and a strong connection to the lake and sandy beaches.

Lake Fiandara will be a location intended for sporting activities. Also located here will be a belvedere with two to three islands and all the necessary facilities for sporting activities. The building of various shopping centres and a fishing village is also planned.

A botanical garden will be located in the eco-agricultural zone. A Roman amphitheatre should also fit well in here, where open air gatherings and shows could be observed from a seat in the audience or from docked boats.

The rural resort with villas named Jezersko Selo will spread across ten acres. An animal park with deer, mouflons, sheep and donkeys is also planed to be located here.

Umag, a small town and port on the northwest coast of Istria, represents Croatia`s ‘gate into Europe’. Today, Umag is a town of tourism and sport. It has been known as the sporting centre of Istria for years because it hosts the ATP tournament that many world famous tennis stars have participated in.

It was discovered a long time ago by Roman noblemen who decided to claim it as their summer residence.

The glitz and glamour of those times comes out through the Venetian houses that the centre of Umag is full of, even today. The hinterland of Umag also hides less known tourist attractions such as mountaineering, caving and other activities for lovers of adventure.
