Entitled "Croatia – A Water Paradise", the most popular and best selling weekly newspaper in Taiwan, "Yi Zhou Kan Magazine '(English name is Next Magazine) recently on five richly illustrated pages published a report on Croatia, which was largely devoted to Šibenik.
The journalist and photojournalist Lin Wen Pei, after her stay in Croatia, wrote a travelogue about how she experienced this, as she calls it, country in the Western Balkans.
Although the story of Croatia, "opens" with an image of, she claims, amazing Plitvice Lakes, and then pictures of Zagreb, three pages are dedicated to Šibenik, which is dominated by the waterfalls of Krka and the Šibenik Cathedral.
The author says Croatia’s history has made it so special. Influences from Austria in the north and Venice from southern Italy have made it unique in the cultural sense.
She says that Croatian King Petar Krešimir IV. in the XI. century made Šibenik magnificent and rich, and the River Krka is the pride of the city. At the same time she got caught in the beauty of the Dalmatian St. James Cathedral, which boasts a unique dome and a frieze with heads of Jurjev’s contemporaries. She walked through the alleys and streets in the historic center of town.
The author, while staying in Šibenik, did not only visit historical monuments, mentioning in her report how she enjoyed swimming, diving, watching the fish and beautiful sunsets.
"Dalmatian prosciutto is very salty, but very attractive and tasteful," concludes the report from Šibenik by Lin Wen Pei.
