Hotel Lapad in Dubrovnik is the winner of the Rookie of the Year award for Croatia in 2009. The award is handed out by one of the world`s leading travel agencies Expedia that runs their business exclusively via on- line reservations. Last year, hotel Lapad, signed its first international collaboration contract with Expedia, and receiving the Rookie of the year award meant that this hotel in Dubrovnik had the best sales results out of all the new hotels in Croatia that did business with Expedia in the past year.

Expedia has been present on the Croatian market for the past five years and has, for the first time, decided to award recognition to hotel companies for exceptional services in 2009.

The awards are handed out in three categories: Best producer, Best rate competitiveness and Rookie of the year.

Located on a peninsula, hotel Lapad is surrounded by a couple of a hundred year old villas and gardens with a view onto the Gruž port where it stands out with its rustic façade refreshed with modern details. Since its refurbishment in 2008, the hotel offers 157 luxuriously furnished rooms and six apartments located in two wings connected by an authentic staircase, which was preserved as a reminder of times gone by.

The old part of the hotel dates back to 1911 and is connected with a newer part, built in 1986, by a magnificent cascade garden, back yard and pool.

The hotel is located on the sea front, only three kilometres away from the old city core of Dubrovnik.
