Two historic lighthouses reopen for visitors

Two Istrian landmarks have recently been refurbished to provide unique holiday accommodation on the stunning Adriatic coast. The two lighthouses are part of a collection of 11 dotted along the Dalmatian coast that are available for hire as self-catering apartments.

Third Park Plaza hotel to open in Croatia

Park Plaza Hotel Group has announced the renovation and rebranding of Hotel Medulin, a short distance from the historical fishing town of Medulin. Scheduled for opening April 2012, Park Plaza Medulin will be the first Croatian opening for the group, with Park Plaza Histria Pula and Park Plaza Verudela Pula opening their doors in May 2012.

Zagreb’s Blue Bikes launch new tour

Blue Bike tours have launched a brand new, whistle-stop tour of Zagreb, by bike. The Gimme Five tour takes in five unmissable aspects of the capital city, on a half-day guided tour. Visit a museum and a gallery, stop for a spot of lunch and a bit of shopping and take a tour of the city - all by bike. Prices start from just €45 per person.

New official hot spot for paragliders


The small town of Tribalj in the Kvarner region of Croatia is now home to an official paragliding airfield. The area had long been a paradise for paragliders and hang gliders, with its intoxicating combination of sea and mountains. The official designation will bring a number of organised events to the region, including the Vinodol Academy Open paragliding competition.

Garden Festival moves to Tisno

After six successful years at Petrčane, Croatia’s famous Garden Festival is moving to Tisno, on the island of Murter. This means the event, which takes place from 4-7 July, will have a much greater capacity than before. Tickets are on sale now and cost £90.

18 – 20 May 2012 – International Tournament of Knights, Sveta Helena

This two-day spectacle is great fun for the whole family. See costumed performers re-enact the battle scenes of medieval times, complete with sword fights and catapults, or try your hand at medieval cookery, money minting, archery or calligraphy.

Zagreb’s favourite festival, Cest is d’ Best, is an international multimedia street festival which brings together hundreds of performers from across the world for five days of music, drama, art and sport.

A two-part festival dedicated to classical music, with the second instalment taking place in September, Kvarner Festival brings a packed programme of performances to this picturesque corner of Croatia. This year sees Nigel Kennedy grace the open air stage in Opatija.
