Samobor, a favourite resort town for the people of Zagreb and the population of the north west part of Croatia, has prepared a real treat for its visitors during the month of May: a manifestation under the name Days of Samobor`s Cream Cakes (‘Kremšnita’), which will be held on the 14th and 15th of May. These special cakes are made from sweet foamy, vanilla cream and are especially famous in Samobor where a top quality, secret recipe is used and cakes are served warm, while everywhere else they are served exclusively as a chilled treat. During the celebration of the 7th Days of Samobor Cream Cakes, this cake, which by the local tradition is said to open all doors, will be served in the most famous of Samobor`s patisseries. The local population believes that any problem or misunderstanding can be solved by offering someone this cream cake.

Apart from enjoying this treat the locals are so proud of (they have even written an anthem about this cake), there will be numerous cultural and entertainment events held at the main town square during the manifestation. Among them there will be a cream cake making competition and a haiku cream cake poetry competition.

Samobor is located in the north-west part of Croatia, 5 kilometers away from the border with Slovenia. It is located 20 kilometres from Zagreb and around a half hour drive from the airport.
