At the invitation of UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization), the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj, was recently admitted to the UNWTO Knowledge Network. It is an international program whose mission is to support Member States' actions in all matters relating to tourism innovation and knowledge, science and technology, in order to enhance competitiveness and global development in the field of tourism.

UNWTO has recognized the Tourist Board of Mali Lošinj as an institution with innovative approaches to business and strategies in tourism. Special projects, such as ‘the Fragrances and Flavours of Lošinj’, ‘Around the world with Lošinj`s sails’, ‘125 years of medical tourism on the island’ and ‘the arrival of Apoksiomen’ have been recognized. UNWTO emphasized the importance and commended the initiative of Mali Lošinj in encouraging sustainable tourism development and implementation of destination management.
