After The Guardian recently included the Croatian island of Vis on its website list of ten ideal summer destinations for solo travellers, the same British paper published a video report about the beautiful and powerful mountain Velebit. The interesting report brings a story of a meteorologist from Zavižan, who has made Velebit his home for the past 37 years. It also highlights the fact that there are more than 2000 plant species growing on Velebit, from which 50 are indigenous, while in the whole of the United Kongdom there are only about 1180. On Velebit one can still come across bears, wolves, foxes, martens, lynxes. The famous mountain winters are also mentioned as well as the beautiful views that stretch from its numerous high tops.
