The French edition of the popular Geo magazine recently devoted an issue to Croatia, whose beauty and tourist offer were described through five themes on 24 pages.
About five million readers of the French magazine Geo, which is regarded as an extremely important medium when it comes to matters of travel, were able to read an article about Croatia on ten beautifully presented pages. In the 400th anniversary issue, which is published in France in 260 000 copies, journalists Sylvie Buy and Nicolas Ancelin conveyed their experiences of visiting Croatia. They were thrilled by the natural beauty and landscapes of Velebit, the Venetian charm of Istria, the ambience of Belle Époque Opatija, beautiful islands of Kvarner and the futuristic monuments of Zadar.
Istrian cuisine and agritourism are especially singled out and Sylvie Buy describes Istria as a region where "vineyards, olive trees and oaks intertwine as parts of a patchwork with a distinctive scent of maquis" and where almost everything is produced on site. For the Arena in Pula, she wrote that standing before it, one feels like they are in the heart of Rome at the Coliseum, while Rovinj is described as "the younger sister of Venice with colorful facades that plunge into the sea". Opatija is compared to a Viennese cake, describing it as "creamy, with soft colors, from light pink to shades of green", a city where you still feel the charm of old Europe. Velebit is described as the American Far West, with "bald hills, canyons, and bears".
In the report about the Kvarner Islands, Nicolas Ancellin writes about "the archipelago from the end of the world" where you can discover "Griffon vultures, dolphins, fairy tale forests and clear waters". Ancellin also presented the area of Tramuntana, on the island of Cres, and praised the cleanliness of the sea in Lošinj, writing that "transparency of the water is such that boats look like they are hanging on invisible threads". Zadar is presented as a "new star of the Croatian coast" and the city that offers "distinctive and bold modern installations, combined with historical monuments and legendary sunsets".
