Located partly on the island of Murter, and partly on land which separates the narrow sea strait, from which it owes its name, Tisno is the youngest village on the island. Connected by a drawbridge that during the summer months is raised twice a day.

Tisno is a religious centre, the votive pilgrimage to Our Lady of Karavaja means that believers come from all over the dioceses of Zadar and Šibenik.
Another picturesque island is Murter, having a surface area of 18 square kilometers. Murter is an island of fishermen, olive groves and shipbuilders.
