The biggest settlement and ferry port on the island of Brač, Supetar, is one of the major tourist centres in Dalmatia. It is situated in the northern part of the island in the Bay of Saint Peter, which gave the town its name. The island of Brač is the highest and third largest island in the Adriatic Sea. The island is well known for its quality stone used to build many palaces. This is the island with the only stone mason school in Croatia.
