The Mediterranean as it once was

Ivanić-Grad

If you want to feel the warmth of a small town centre, then visit Ivanić Grad, which is not far from Zagreb. The small town developed from a fortress, and was built in a valley beside the river Lonja in the mid 16th century. Today it is a part of the county of Zagreb, and located beside the Zagreb-Lipovac motorway.

In the preserved ancient centre of the town there is the parish church of sv. Petar [St. Peter] and other valuable cultural heritage monuments. Ivanić Grad hides one great curiosity - a special hospital for medical rehabilitation, Naftalan. In many places there are oil pumps, which although look very historical, give a romantic look to the town.

The Sports-recreational centre Petek is an ideal place for those wanting to have an excellent family weekend, as well as in the many rural homesteads in the town's surroundings where you can enjoy the local food, riding, walking...
The wines roads are an important part of the tourist gastro offer – they have been opening in all parts of Central Croatia over the past ten years, most of them in the northwest areas and Moslavina. They are lively at any time of the year.

Of course, the harvest time in autumn is the most dynamic, as well 11 November – St. Martin’s Day, the last and most significant winegrowers’ holiday of the year, when they mark the christening of young musk and its transformation into wine. St. Martin’s Day is associated with many local customs, so this year, the merry festival of wine lovers will once again attract numerous tourists who will have a pleasant and palate-friendly time with their hosts.
