Basic information

The origin of songs from the Drava region is easily recognised. Although similar, they differ in the music and lyrics, in the diversity of their features, from wide melodic elegiac melodies of the plains, to the rustic play of folk dances, songs and jokes tailored to the occasion. The Songs of the Podravina Region music festival, in which known traditional Croatian music artists perform each year, is dedicated to fostering contemporary folk songs based on the music and poetic tradition of Croatian towns along the river Drava. On the first night, the festival is dedicated to songs from Podravina, while on the second, musicians from the entire Podravina region, including from Slavonia and Baranja, perform along with numerous tambura ensembles and soloists.
