Mentioned for the first time in 1277 as a Gothic Franciscan church, in 1751 it was restyled in the Baroque manner. Also on the same site was a Franciscan monastery, which was demolished, and the church deconsecrated in 1844. The ground floor was transformed into a wine cellar and the upper level became the premises in which the Istrian Parliament sat from 1861 until 1918. Today, the Istrian Assembly Hall is the venue for concerts, cultural events and meetings.
